This is a program designed for kids to increase flexibility, enhance focus and reduce risk of injury. Yoga develops balance and agility skills. Class activities include yoga poses, breathing exercises, interactive games and a whole lot of fun. This a great way for kids to meet new friends and explore the benefits of yoga in a safe and playful environment. Yoga allows for children to focus their energy to increase concentration skills. Practicing Yoga increases the overall experience in and out of the classroom, by developing the whole: mind, body and spirit.
*Developing and stretching the bodily/kinesthetic intelligence. - By removing competition from physical fitness we create an environment that allows every participant to have a joyful experience, while learning a new skill.
*Creating equal participation and greater engagement. -Unlike many traditional sports and games, almost all yoga activities involve simultaneous participation by all players.
*Developing emotional intelligence. -Through the use of breath work and yoga poses kids and teens learn the skills to help them develop impulse control and perseverance in the face frustration.
*Yoga develops character. - Being open to, and taking the opportunity to, discuss issues as they come up during yoga games, helps students to develop positive core virtues. Respect, fairness, kindness, empathy and leadership are emphasized as we teach letting go of competition, judgement and expectations.
*Developing creativity. - We offer many opportunities to engage in creative play. Kids develop and grow when using imagination, fantasy and creativity. Creativity allows people to do great things, we are only limited by our ability to imagine.
*Developing a process orientation. -We focus on the process, not the outcome. When kids spend their time joyfully expressing themselves or focusing on a balance pose, there is no time or energy for the ego. There is no recording of stats or scores and measuring kidʼs self-worth based on these numbers. We instead focus on the moment and the process. Yoga is a journey, a process, and a practice. There is no end, no finish line, no final goal or outcome. The joy is the process.
